FOUNDER & LEAD CLINICIAN
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have been working in various aspects of the mental health field for nearly 20 years, but one of my greatest joy has been founding Alliance Therapy Practice in 2011. Before that time, my career has covered residential, community and outpatient settings, which together has primed me for our work together. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Hofstra University, a Masters Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University and I am licensed to practice Social Work in Connecticut and New York.
I often describe myself as a Social Worker by trade and by heart. Meaning, I'm passionate about serving my community and the mode by which I choose to do so is through psychotherapy. Taking care of yourself and living a fulfilling life is something that I want to be accessible to every person, regardless of their circumstances.
I am deeply passionate about supporting women struggling with a wide variety of issues including but not limited to depression and anxiety during pregnancy and the postpartum period, grief after miscarriage or infertility, and trauma due to childbirth. Because of that, I have advanced training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders(PMADs) and currently serve on the Board of Postpartum Support International's Connecticut Chapter.
I take a holistic approach to providing therapy. There is no one modality I use in treatment, but instead I rely on a combination of strategies that are evidence-based, to heal the mind, body and/or spirit. For example, I commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in conjunction with Mindfulness Based Stressed Reduction to help bring understanding to one's experience, the underlying thoughts and feelings that support them and the development of effective coping strategies. I am an avid reader and lifelong learner so I'm continually bringing in new tools to best serve my clients.
"Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.” - Lao Tzu

I am a social worker with a focus on perinatal mental wellness. I am excited to bring my background as a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, and Certified Childbirth Educator to Alliance. I have an MSW from Fordham University, an MA in International Education (with a focus on identity development) from the University of San Francisco, and a BA from Fordham University.
I have been trained as a group facilitator (using trauma informed CBT and DBT) during my time at Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital Intensive Outpatient Program. I have counseled and supported people who have experienced past trauma and loss, parents who are neurodiverse, and people who have a history of anxiety, depression, OCD, substance dependency, and body image disturbance. I enjoy working with couples as they navigate the many milestones of parenting, partnership, and intimacy after children. While I use an eclectic approach to my practice that incorporates emotionally focused therapy, narrative therapy and other psychodynamic practices, my real goal is to be a non-judgemental source of comfort and support. I want you to feel a little bit lighter when you leave my office.
